This week at Chefs' Haven

A very successful week at Chefs' Haven came to a close and a brand new and exciting week lies ahead.  Last week saw Essentials 2 (5 Mother Sauces), Italian Harvest and Asian Date Night classes enjoy wonderful food while learning how to make great dishes at home!  Chef Mark's busy week saw him prepare such dishes as Frutti Di Mare, Rosemary Garlic Pork Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom Risotto and Roasted Fennel, Chinese Tangerine Beef and Vegetables over Sticky Rice, and Hot and Sour Soup.

But with the end of every great week comes the beginning of the next BIG week.  Chefs' haven will be going full steam with Essentials 3, Flair of New Orleans Seafood and the ever popular Eat, Drink, Read Dinner.  This week also brings the Easter holiday.  Chef's Haven has some great Chocolates and Candy to help stuff those Easter baskets.  Just in are Neuchatel Chocolate's Solid Chocolate Bunnies, as well as 4 Neuchatel Truffles in a solid Chocolate Egg!  Stop in to pick one up.

And don't forget to check our great selection of Gourmet Cheeses and our great tasting (Best In Delaware) Freshly Baked Bread!  They are great for any Holiday get together or family dinner.

The Week in Review

An exciting and delicious week happened at Chefs' Haven.  On Tuesday, we had a sold out class participate in Knife Skills (Essentials 1).  Most of the fun group will be returning over the next two weeks to take Essentials 2 and 3.  It plans to be very informative and entertaining.  On Wednesday April 2nd, a new and energetic group of people joined us for "Regions of Italy".  The class was treated to demonstrations of:  Panzanella Salad, Spicy Sausage and Kale Soup, Steak with Gorgonzola and Vidalia Onion and for dessert Panna Cotta.  On Thursday April 3rd, a small but wonderful group got to experience a new class, "Taste of Asian Seafood."  And believe us, they were not disappointed.  The menu included: Thai Coconut Shrimp Soup, Seared Scallops with Yuzu-Wasabi Vinaigrette, Julienne Salad with Ginger Miso Dressing, Pan Seared Striped Bass with Butternut Squash Sauce and Maitake Mushrooms with Truffle Jus.  And then they were pleasantly surprised by an extra dish, Yuzu Sorbet for dessert!  We are also very happy to say that all of our Seafood for the week came from the wonderful George and Son's Seafood, as well as the Butternut Squash and Rainbow Carrots for the salad came from Harvest Market!  We thank them tremendously for their great seafood!

The week really flew by and everyone enjoyed the instruction, not to mention the food!  Next week looks to be just as fun as we kick things off with Hands-On Sushi Making.  Check out our calendar page on our website for more information on upcoming classes.  Join us for an entertaining, fun, instructional and very delicious meal.  you won't find something this interesting anywhere else. (And if you do, let us know because we won't believe you.)  :-)

Tonight at Chefs' Haven we took the class on a Tour of Korea with a wonderful menu that included, Korean Seafood Pajeon, Korean Chopped Salad, Korean Slaw and Spicy Pork Stir Fry with Korean Fried Rice.  An exceptional group of people enjoyed the meal and lesson and it was great to have such a nice group of people join us for this evening's event.  Two people signed up tonight for our Trivia Night which takes place this Friday.  Seats still remain for the Trivia Night class where you can win a FREE Cooking Class.  To sign up head over to our calendar page and click on Trivia Night to sign up.

Birthday Private Class

Last night, Chefs' Haven hosted a Private Class for 5 people.  The idea for the class was to have a menu formatted around our "Low Carb/GlutenFree/High Flavor" Cooking Class.  The one twist...one participant is Vegan.  Everyone enjoyed the Roasted Red Pepper Soup (made with Vegetable Stock).  Next on the menu was our famous Quinoa Salad with Parsley Vinaigrette.  This course is usually served with Grilled Tilapia, however, everyone enjoyed the salad without it.   The salad was followed up by Seared Steak and Mashed Cauliflower with Caramelized Onions and Skillet Tomatoes with Fresh Herbs.  Mashed Cauliflower with Caramelized Onions, Skillet Tomatoes and Roasted Vegetables were made to accommodate our one Vegan participant.  Dessert was Fresh Berries with Saigon Cinnamon Cream.  The evening was great and everyone had a great time!
