Mark Eastman is the owner and operator of Chefs’ Haven, a gourmet store and learning center for novice and experienced chefs in Hockessin, De. His experience includes 25 years in the food industry. Mark attributes most of his talent to his mother and his quality education at New England Culinary Institute Montpelier, VT. Eastman, 52, has worked at various area restaurants such as the four-star Brasserie Perrier in Philadelphia, PA, the Dilworthtown Inn in West Chester, PA and The Gables Restaurant in Chadds Ford PA. Earlier in Mark's career he served as Executive Chef at the Saratoga Performing Art Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, NY, where he prepared meals for such celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Manson, U2, Aerosmith, The Dave Matthews Band and countless others. While there he catered for galas such as Philadelphia Orchestra, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera as well as other socialites. Before moving to the area, he worked as a food stylist for Emeril Lagasse. He specializes in preparing fish, meat, sauces and soups. Sharing his knowledge is his passion.
At Chefs’ Haven, which opened in December 2008, Eastman provides high quality pantry and kitchen equipment and gadgets, knife sharpening service, the highest quality chocolates, Imported and Domestic cheeses available, and basic cooking ingredients such as irreplaceable demi glace and hard to find spices. In addition,
Mark’s main service at Chefs’ Haven’s is to teach passionate home cooks the proper way to prepare food, and provide the necessary tools and ingredients to accomplish a most impressive end result!
Eastman, his wife and Chefs’ Haven co-owner Majella, and their two sons live in Landenberg, Pa .
